Stayed here with my husband and two young kids for a week. The facilities were amazing, and kept them entertained the whole time, pool was a massive highlight of the holiday!! Helen and Steve were so friendly and helpful with advice about activities and restaurants. Would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a chill holiday with amazing surroundings and the opportunity to visit some lovely authentic umbrian towns.

We stayed in the apartment named Il Tramonto for 7 nights in September 2015. From communications prior to our arrival to our time at the accommodation, the owners Helen and Stephen, were incredibly welcoming and helpful. The accommodation is made up of 3 self-catering apartments. The whole space has been very thoughtfully set up for families with children, particularly younger children but I expect all ages would enjoy it. Our apartment had lots of toys, baby monitors, spare nappies, high chair and booster, cot (with comfy cot mattress), bed safety bars, children's books, baby bath, toilet seat and step and there was a good selection of children's DVDs on site. The two playparks and goats kept our 1.5 year old and nearly 4 year old entertained every day. The pool is solar heated but it is cold and our littlest refused to get in! But there were plenty of pool toys to keep her entertained at the side of the pool. The views are outstanding and there are plenty of spaces to take them in. Our apartment was really spacious, comfortable and clean. Helen organised a pizza making night which the kids loved (the pizzas and foccacia bread were delicious) and it gave us the opportunity to meet the other guests. There were extra touches which were appreciated like homemade olive oil and a basil plant in the apartment. Helen also offered that we stay for as long as we liked on the last day given our flight was late evening, which was much appreciated. The location is great, very central making cities such as Florence and Rome do-able in a day but we really enjoyed visiting the locals towns and villages such as Gubbio, Montone, Perugia and Assisi.||||We would very happily return to Alsagra.

I don't think I've ever stayed in such a stunning setting before - it is absolutely beautiful. The villa was great - well kitted out and while it was small, it was a good use of space. There are fly screens on all the windows which we really appreciated, and even though we stayed during a heatwave, the apartment didn't get too sweltering. The pool is lovely with lots of inflatables etc. and the kiddies pool was a very handy addition. As well as the play areas there is also a ping pong table and table football for alternatives to lazing by the pool. It's well located to get to some stunning towns and villages nearby - and there's a little shop within walking distance which is handy. We enjoyed the pizza night - in fact, we wouldn't have minded another opportunity to socialise with the other guests. There's lots of information provided and Helen and Steve are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

This is our 5th stay at Alsagra and again, it's perfect. Helen and Steve have thought of everything to make your stay the best it can be. The pool is wonderful, the location quiet but not remote. The road in the valley gives easy access to all the sightseeing locations like Perugia, Gubbio, Asissi, lake Trasimeno. The main line station to Rome and Pisa is 20 mins drive if you fancy a longer day out. If you have small children they will be their element here. If you haven't then it's still a perfect location with lots of Walks from the door and a gentle relaxing pace of life.

We stayed in May with our 3 & 5 year old. The outside play equipment was fantastic and the pool area is lovely, although the water was quite cold. The views are amazing and the location is great. ||||We stayed in Papaveri and were disappointed with the kitchen / living room area. It was very small and there is only one small sofa, so not enough comfortable seats for all of us. Also the cooking facilities were very basic - not good enough for a keen cook. The upstairs space was great - big rooms and comfortable beds. The stairs are very steep - slightly scary for very small children. There were some toys in the apartment but they were all a bit tired and battered. It would benefit from some new ones.||||The owners were very helpful when you needed them but we didn't see a lot of them (maybe deliberately to give us some space?).||||Overall it was great, but maybe a little over-priced. Admittedly we got unlucky with unseasonally wet weather and some of us were ill, so we had to spend more time in the apartment than some people might.

We really enjoyed our week here. The swimming pool was lovely in the 35 degree heat! Other highlights included the excellent pizza night and also the play area for kids. Owners were very helpful. ||The place is a good location for Perugia / gubbio / assissi / lake traismeno. Hire car needed.

We visited Alsagra over the Easter break during April 2014 and had a wonderful time. The house was very easy to find with the helpful driving instructions provided by Helen. We flew into Pisa so had a reasonably long drive (2.5 hours) but it couldn't have been simpler to find and we even stopped at a local supermarket to pick up supplies as recommended in our pre-arrival information. ||||We received a very warm welcome from Helen and Steve who were both on hand at any time during our stay to answer any questions we had, advise us on local restaurants or events. However, they also fully respected our privacy. ||||We stayed in the two bedroom apartment, L'Alba, which is located above another apartment. Everything that we requested in advance like a meal for our first evening, a bed guard for our two and half year old, walking back pack and so on were all ready and waiting for us. The apartment was just the right size for the three of us and made for a very relaxing and comfortable stay. Our little boy was never bored with the abundance of things to do outdoors such as playing in the gypsy caravan, in one of the two playgrounds or visiting the goats which he did daily. There were also plenty of age appropriate toys within the apartment to keep him amused. ||||The views from the apartment were stunning and all three of us were fascinated looking out of the window at different times of the day, watching the weather change or the sunrise and set.||||On our last evening Helen babysat for us while we enjoyed dinner out at a restaurant in nearby Umbertide. We were able to relax knowing our son was being well cared for. ||||Due to the time of year that we visited the swimming pool was closed and the weather was definitely mixed. It was a comfortable daytime temperature ranging between 16 and 20 degrees but the temperature dropped considerably in the evening and due to the traditional style of building (tiled floors, stone walls, high ceilings) it can be a little chilly at night. However, there is central heating if you need to use it but we didn't. If we had visited in the summer months we would definitely have spent more of our days at Alsagra relaxing by the pool but on this occasion we used it mainly as a base to explore the region. ||||If travelling with a toddler, we would highly recommend visiting the smaller towns as there is less traffic and people which allows them to explore more freely. We really enjoyed towns such as Umbertide, Castigilione del Lago and Lake Trasimeno, Gubbio, Corciano and slightly further afield Siena and Perugia. ||||Overall, we would highly recommend Alsagra!

Unbelievable views from the apartment. Spotless. Helen and family are very friendly and help with anything you ask. They speak fluent Italian. The swimming pool was never overcrowded and there is a special one for smaller children. A peaceful holiday with excellent restaurants nearby. You do need a car.
