I can confirm that most of the negative reviews are correct but here are some tips if Priceline or other website selected gave you this rental before you noticing the negative reviews. 1: they will try to sell you insurance but..if you have full coverage insurance from good company, they will cover any car you drive. If they try to strong arm you into extra charges, in my case, $29 a day extra when actual Kia forte was only $20. Quote them “California Civil Code Section 1936 states that any provision in a rental agreement requiring the customer to purchase insurance from the rental company is void and unenforceable. This means rental car companies cannot force you to buy their insurance—it's always an option, not a requirement.” On another note, they will screw you hard for being an hour or so late. They changed me extra $97 when my rental was only $20 a day. Also note car was salvaged with badly repaired heavy damage. See pics for details. It’s worth every penny to not rent from this place. Out car had 48,000

Please! Do not rent from them!! It's a mess as it is getting a car out of LAX let alone dealing with Economy Rent a Car! They have 1 shuttle that runs once a hour!!! (I had to walk, FYI) then when you get there, the line is wrapped around the block! They have 1 worker working!! Like it finally got in the a car 3 hours after My plane landed! A darn shame! Used turo, or a better rental place! Stay away from this one!

Worse car rental- don’t be fooled with the low prices
Rating: ★☆☆☆☆**
We had an extremely disappointing experience with this car rental company. Despite booking a van with unlimited mileage, when we arrived, the staff demanded additional payment for unlimited mileage or imposed a limited mileage of 140 miles per day. They were dismissive once they learned that our personal insurance covered the rental. They completely disregarded the terms of our booking, threw our papers back at us, and abruptly ended the discussion. Their service was unprofessional and unacceptable. I do not recommend this company.

We booked through Uber so we had no idea our third party company was Economy until day of. The instructions online on how to get to the rental office are very confusing and contradictory. There is no direct bus you have to wait for a Metro Connect bus by the pink LAX shuttle area at your terminal to take you to the Remote Rental Car Depot to take yet another shuttle. Unfortunately the Metro Connect doesn’t stop by often and gets fully quickly. We had to walk up a terminal to be able to get in one that wasn’t full and it took close to an hour of waiting for it to arrive. We scheduled our pick up at 7 but when we arrived at the remote car rental depot we were told by a different driver that the Economy driver had stopped giving rides for the day and that Economy was closed. Their website says 8 PM is closing and they let us schedule a 7 PM pickup? We called and they told us they actually close at 7:30 if we could find a way to get there on our own. We got there on our own but I was already disappointed at the lack of customer service as we were already paying $300 for this rental. Upon returning the car, we also had to wait about 45 min for a shuttle to take us to LAX (but they told us originally it would be 20-30 min). The car itself was fine luckily. I won’t ever book through Uber again so I don’t get them next time we come to LAX. Pick any one of the other major rental companies!

After 20 mins of wasted time waiting at the rental car shuttle lane. I found out that there is no direct shuttle from LAX to the rental car location. You have to go on a separate shuttle to metro lot from LAX. Then they have a shuttle to pick you up to bring you to this sad location.
The problem is that the metro lot shuttle doesn’t come often. You end up waiting for a long time. So long in fact I took the shuttle to the Uber lot and took an Uber. The Uber cost me $38.
When you arrive they are talking on the phone while processing your order and then they don’t take Amex. They don’t take 3rd party insurance from Amex so you have to pay $111 for insurance. This is not saving money. This is just pay the same amount of money for much more inconvenience and much worst service.
I did not want to wait around to see what kind of cars they would pull up. I can only imagine the condition the rental cars would be in. Terrible terrible option. I can not believe that Expedia would back them and use them. Expedia should be ashamed

Some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Many rude careless staff. Most team members we came in contact with had a morose careless attitude. Not all team members were rude, but the ones that are main contacts such as car inspectors and customer call service center and front desk. Only rental company I've ever used that charges you for a down deposit of $500 to $1000 to make sure you don't damage the car. When I returned the car, they didn't inspect it with me, guy who inspected the car, all I saw him do is get into the car check the gas and check the mileage and get out and told me it was all good, and when I asked about the inspection the guy gave pure attitude and started arguing with me which caused me to snap back. Call center staff has attitude, and main phone number doesn't work and kept disconnecting stating "call transfer failed". When I called in after we got to the airport, last I spoke to on the phone, Liz, was polite and agreed with me that we shouldn't be getting attitude from staff members, however, her singular good attitude doesn't make up for the rest of the team. It's concerning that Priceline has them as a rental option...
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN. ALLIED ECONOMY. AVOID, take your business elsewhere.

Nervous about the experience after reading all of these reviews. I have not made it to the rental company, but I'm
already on the bus to the ride share parking lot because there were no directions on how to get to the car lot. Economy Rent a Car never sent me a confirmation email. I'll update this if the rental place gets better, but until then, I'm getting a Lyft.
***Yes, the wait was a little long, but it is what it is. My check in guy was Richard and he was super nice. Once I was up, it was pretty quick, but I also knew that I would need my insurance card, had to have a Visa/MasterCard and not the debit kind of card. That's like paying cash, so I'm giving you the heads up here, have a real credit card.
Now I'm waiting for the rental to pull up. I arrived at 6:36p and it's 7:30p now, the process is complete, but no rental car yet. It seems there is one person and they do a huge inspection. Keep you updated once I have my rental.
Rental received at 7:47p. No complaints here. Thank you Richard!

THIS PLACE IS LITERALLY A SCAM.
They get you through non-refundable reservations through apps such as Hopper. Never ever rent from this place. they legally scam you.
Here is what happened with me:
I made a reservation through hopper app thinking it will be a easy rental car pick up but no.... you need to take two shuttle buses to even get to this place. Once, i got there they will force you to get there expensive insurance that is $400 for 4 days just the insurance, the reservation itself was $200 and they say that it is mandatory. And i cannot cancel the reservation because it is non-refundable so i was stressing out and stuck, didnt know what to do. But then i bought the insurance that was offered by hopper app, but they said they wouldnt accept that either. First of all, why would hopper offer this insurance if the company is not going to accept it. (so i had to call and get refund for that, additional stress) Luckily my car insurance had me covered so after haggling for 2 hours to rent a car. i was finally able to get the rental car. They also charged me $400 security deposit! very very unusual, typically it is $200.
All was going well until the day before returning the car. The car was totally fine and there was no cars parked near me the night before and when i woke up in the morning, i noticed a little dent on the rear door of the drivers side. (see picture). It got me seriously stressed out must have aged a year or 2 when i saw that.
Then, i went back and returned the car. After a week or two, I hadn't gotten back my $400 security deposit. and I tried to contact this rental place over the phone, nothing it just hangs up on me and i wrote 10 emailed daily, still nothing. Finally after trying million times i got an email saying that the car is dented and they will need to file a claim to my car insurance, and also told me if i will be getting back my security deposit. It been like almost half a year since this happened. I have been sending emails day and night about if i will get my $400 security deposit back, if go through on the claim with my insurance for a tiny dent, for what i know the car company could have tracked the GPS on the car and made a dent so they can keep my security deposit and on top of that get more money from my car insurance.
THIS PLACE IS WORST WORST CAR RENTAL PLACE ON PLANET EARTH. WHOEVER IS RUNNING THIS PLACE, ALL THE WORKERS ARE GETTING NOWHERE IN LIFE WITH SCAMMING BUSINESS.
I still have not heard from them, they never pick up their phone. I want my security deposit $400 back!
So gutted, this place literally ruined my trip to the beautiful city of LA.
