We had a lovely time at Santa Chiara in a year that has been somewhat challenging for holidays and the tourist industry! Paul and Anita were really reassuring when we had concerns about whether the holiday could go ahead and helped us make the decision to go! And we were so glad we did! We were in Rancale apartment, it was very spacious, clean, well equipped and comfortable. We had a beautiful patio area to eat meals and have a bbq’s. The pool was lovely and it was at times hard to get our daughter out! |One massive high-light was the in-house menu that we used a couple of times during our stay. The food Anita cooked was amazing and quite possibly 2 of the best meals we had on our holiday! |The area was beautiful and the information provided in the apartment for day trips was really helpful and kept us busy for the 2 weeks we stayed!|I would definitely highly recommend for a great family holiday!

We had a fantastic stay here in August. Paul and Anita are amazing hosts. We stayed in the Rancale apartment and it had everything we needed. We have a 6yr old and 2yr old. We were worried we’d keep them amused for a week but we had great fun round the pool and playing with the outdoor toys. We had a hire car and got out and about which I’d definitely recommend. Montone is a lovely place to visit, and specifically a restaurant call Taverna Del Verziere. We also went to Siena which is beautiful. If you stay with Anita and Paul try some Anita’s homemade food. The aubergine bake us scrumpy. We would definitely stay again.

We had a great time staying at Santa Chiara. Paul and Anita were such hospitable hosts. Obviously 2020 is such an unusual year but they were great at reassuring us and being extremely flexible. The place was perfectly equipped for our two children who were two and four. Lots of fun adventures walking from the house, and swimming in the pool. It is a superb location to reach many different sights in the area. Would definitely look to comeback.

We had a lovely stay at Santa Chiara, the hosts Anita and Paul cannot do enough for you. We went for a long w/e to attend a wedding and everything was perfect. Highly recommend the home cooked food Anita will prepare fresh for you. The surrounding area and views are spectacular, the pool was lovely and the apartment really spacious. I would highly recommend this property.

This was our second trip to Santa Chiara. We were worried that we may have looked back with rose-tinted holiday glasses but it was every bit as lovely as we remembered. Sitting in the evening with a glass of local wine, looking out over the flowers and the olive grove with the sound of crickets in the background is going to be my happy place for the rest of the year! Santa Chiara is special to us - it was the first place we went on holiday with our first child and is now the first place we went to as a family of four. You could not ask for a more family-friendly set-up. There is everything you could need for kids and babies including a fantastic range of toys and books plus wine for the grownups! The bedrooms have shutters and blackout blinds so our kids slept very well. Paul and Anita are incredible hosts and can't do enough for you. The gardens and pool are beautifully maintained and Anita's tiramisu is the stuff of legend in our family - it was every bit as good as we remembered! This time we stayed in Rancale which was lovely. The layout suited us slightly better than Pantano with the open plan kitchen and shaded terrace for meals. Our daughter loved the play areas and the cats, who are very friendly and love to be stroked. There was only one other family staying at the same time but we never saw them so we had the pool to ourselves every day - but even if they'd been around there are more than enough sunbeds and places to sit and the pool is a good size. It's the perfect balance of being private and off the beaten track but with lots of supermarkets and restaurants a short drive away. This area of Umbria is peaceful and completely unspoiled. Although we're now limited to school holidays, there was no sense at all of it being tourist season. Our highlights this time were the Perugina chocolate factory tour (which Paul kindly helped us book and which includes a surprisingly generous tasting session), Montone and the restaurants Il Caldaro and Girasole. We can't recommend Santa Chiara enough and will definitely be back again.

Our family of four spent a lovely week at Santa Chiara in July 2019. We really liked the location - a peaceful, rural spot with views of farmland and olive trees, great for family relaxation far from the madding holiday crowds, but an easy drive into Umbertide for shops, etc. and a good base for exploring Umbria. We stayed in their Pantano apartment, which suited our family very well - a double for us, and a spacious twin room for the kids. We found it homely, comfortable and clean. We particularly enjoyed eating our meals out on our private terrace, enjoying the views down the valley. The hosts - Paul and Anita - made themselves available to answer any questions we had. They also provided a delicious lasagne on the evening of our arrival and home-grown olive oil refills throughout the week. We would be happy to recommend it to friends, and will certainly consider returning there ourselves.

We had a lovely time staying at Santa Chiara with our young daughter. Paul and Anita were wonderful hosts, helping us out with every query and need, which we very much appreciated. ||||The apartment, the grounds and the swimming pool were all lovely and Anita cooks some marvellous meals on requests – and a tiramisu to die for.||||The location is fantastic as you get the combination of being away from it all in a valley in the hills and yet are within easy reach of both outdoor activities suitable for children/families (a lake with beach, river pools, playgrounds) and lovely historic towns and villages and the cultural delights that come with them. ||||We have a particular interest in art and there was lots to see from the contemporary art in the Burri collection at Citta di Castella (in two wonderfully different buildings) to the National Gallery and Civic Museum of Palazzo della Penna in Perugia, the National Gallery and Academy of Fine Arts in Perugia, the Museum in Montone, and the Ducal Palace, Gubbio. ||||Perugia is a delightful city, well worth a few trips but there are many beautiful places nearby including Montone, Gubbio, Cortona. ||||Paul and Anita provide useful tips on places and restaurants to visit.||||It was wonderful to be able to come back after a hot day out and take a refreshing swim in the pool. We hope to be back there one day soon.
